ABOUT BAISANA
The person behind the lens
I'm Baisana, a Scotland-based photographer with a deep passion for capturing moments that feel genuinely real. Born in Botswana and based in Scotland, my work is shaped by two completely different worlds, the vast open landscapes of Africa and the dramatic moody beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
Whether I'm documenting a wedding at Dunnottar Castle, an engagement shoot on the Quiraing, a family portrait session or a landscape that stopped me in my tracks somewhere in Africa, my approach is always the same. Be present. Stay curious. Tell the truth with a camera.
Photography for me isn't about perfect poses. It's about the look between two people completely lost in each other. The light hitting a Scottish hillside just before it disappears. Those are the moments I chase, and those are the moments that last forever.

MY PHILOSOPHY
Photography as it should be
02
Present
The best photographs happen in the moments between the planned ones.
03
Honest
Photography should tell the truth, the real, beautiful, imperfect truth.
When I'm not behind the lens
Away from the camera I'm a husband and a proud dad to a young son, which has completely changed how I think about capturing moments before they disappear forever. By day I teach mathematics, which might sound like the opposite of photography but both are really about finding patterns, seeing things differently and helping people understand the world in a new way.
When I'm not shooting or teaching you'll find me with a coffee in hand or pushing myself at a Hyrox race across the Scottish countryside. Photography and running have more in common than you'd think — both require patience, presence and the ability to find beauty in unexpected places.
